Waste Not, Want Not

So it's no secret that I'm a big fan of shopping, and sometimes I get carried away, so every so often I wind up with a wardrobe teaming with unworn items. Let's call it "shopping inertia."

Last night I made a listen of items that I've purchased recently, but have yet to actually wear and I'm a little embarrassed to say that there were almost 20 items on the list. It is at this point that I must enforce the following rule:

No new purchases may be made until I've worn everything that still has tags on it.

To be honest I usually bend the rules once I'm down to a couple of items, but I start off strong and that's what's really important. It just feels gluttonous to have all of these new things that I've never worn and continue to buy more before I've even worn them, regardless of whatever great deal I got.

So today I'm wearing a new/several weeks old black and white Gap t-shirt with hot pink Old Navy capris. I clearly remember thinking, "I'll wear this all the time," when I picked it up and yet here I am over a month later wearing it for the first time. Oh well, maybe this will be the first of many wears. It's super soft (as you might be able to tell from the big crease down the middle, I hate ironing) and obviously versatile due to the neutral colors.

So let's see how long it takes me to wear it all. As it stands today: 1 shirt down, 18 miscellaneous clothing/shoe/accessory items to go.
